6 Solutions for 'Default Gateway is Not Available' Error

I have always had problems with my pc’s connection to my network, but this is the first time i have seen this problem when i troubleshoot it, i have tried all of this different solutions and none of them have worked. This is extremely stressful as i rely heavily on my pc.

EDIT: I have just troubleshooted again it says it cannot detect a problem. I have just reset my computer to an earlier date just in case i had accidently made any changes that would of messed with my adapter settings.

Thank you.

THANK YOU! I have spent almost 24 hours straight, upgrading Dell desktop PC Win7 to Win10 only to be perplexed and frustrated by not being able to connect to WiFi; could connect wirelessly to home network but not to Internet. No problem connecting to Internet via Ethernet, but wireless is more convenient. I tried so many different ‘repairs’ but nothing worked until your Solution #5. Dell listed THREE network adapters with three identical names, but evidently something is different about them. Switching to the second adapter now allows a WiFi connection! Bless you for this fix!

Its worked for me as well, thanks a lot

Unfortunately none of the solutions work for me.

Hmm maybe the network card was affected on the previous one

Change the ethernet wire, it can most surely be the wire that is causing the issue, it might show up as connected but it might not provide a stable connection. Change the wire or try your current one on a different computer and see if it works. Also, check out the article again as some new solutions have been added to accommodate even more methods.

Did this work for you? Also, the article was updated to accommodate new methods, check them out.

Open Run and type in “ncpa.cpl”. Press Enter and right-click on your internet connection.
Select “Disable” and wait for 2 minutes.
Right-click again and select “Enable”.

It will. I checked.

Still not working. After I updated W10 OS to the new file system or whatever it was, I have this issue. Thanks Windows 10. I even inserted a new lan card and I have the same issue. Maybe solution 5 will help I dunno yet.

Solution 6? I have my charging mode set to conservation mode(might have caused the problem) Ended up going to Device manager > network adapters > selected the driver I was using > power management > unchecking the box that says “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”. It has been working so far, hope this helps.

Thanks a lot…#5 worked for me.

Hi kevin, I have been having this issue along with many others brought up by the troubleshooter and have tried every possible fix i have seen under the sun including a full reset. My wifi is working fine, but ethernet connection is not working, any ideas?

I find my network disconnecting when i send files from one wifi to another. when it hits a certain amount of bandwidth, the wifi crashes and has to be restarted ;

Thank you. This (#5) did the job after spending a day on other solutions.

Thank you so much. Solution 5 is work for me. And that is the simplest way

Can you download the drivers from the manufacturer’s site? What is Network Adapter’s model #?

Hi Kevin, I am tring to update the drivers but when I select any of them and click on next, it gives me a warning message saying that I should not do it because Windows cannot verify the source. Any advice? Thanks

Tried #5, so far so good! As an update to the article however, mine was a realtek wifi bgn or b/g/n, I changed it to the latter, and that seems to have done the trick! I’ll update again if otherwise.

Thank you for writing this article, it definitely was a help to an issue that had plagued me for weeks!
