If only your keyboard is having this issue it’s possible that the keyboard is damaged because it can’t be a software issue as you said external keyboard is working.

it worked for a while but the problem repeats even if I did this.

This actually worked to fix my friends laptop keyboard that was having issues with their backspace and enter key after trying ALLL of the other fixes. Now I’m extremely baffled.

What I did was to press the 3 keys, Backspace, Enter and Spacebar at once for 5 seconds and it worked.
