Fix: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable 'Windows 7, 8 and 10'

The error Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable means that the system is not able to find and connect to your printer, hence the process is stopped and cannot proceed further. This process allows the computer to manage and allocate resources. If this error occurs, it means that there is most probably a problem…

Kevin,
I was greatly relieved although surprised that solution 4 is what finally allowed Word to see my printer.
Thanks so much for such a thorough analysis. I won’t forget you!

Hey, I can understand your frustration but it might be a service that you disabled before that is causing this issue right now. Follow these steps to restore the default services:-

  1. Press and hold the Windows key then press “R” key to open the Run Program.
  2. Now type “msconfig” and press enter.
  3. Once System Configuration Window, in the “General” tab, select “Normal Startup” Press Apply and then press Okay.

Now disable the Fast Startup because sometimes Windows doesn’t properly load all the services, follow these steps:-

  1. Press and hold the Windows key then press “R” key to open the Run Program.
  2. Now type “Powercfg.cpl” and press enter. This will open Power Settings.
  3. In Power Options, on the left side, click on ‘Choose what the power buttons do’.
  4. There, click on ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’.
  5. To turn off Fast Startup, uncheck the ‘Turn on fast startup’ box.
  6. Click ‘Save changes’ and close the window.

Now Restart your computer and check to see if the issue persists.

Out of curiosity can you tell me what are you trying to achieve exactly? Because all the solutions available are just for printers.

Hello Zubyan,

Enabled Network discovery, still no luck.

Please assist further.

Nitesh

This article is more specific for Printers, not the issue you are having. However, we can still try to help you fix this issue. First, let’s try to narrow down the problem. Check if the network discovery is enabled for you. Follow these steps:-

  1. Press and hold the Windows key and press R to open the Run program.
  2. Type the following command and press enter:-

control /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter

  1. Click on the “Change advanced sharing settings” option on the left pane.
  2. Make sure “Turn on network discovery” option is enabled.

Solution 2 worked like a charm—thanks!
