It’s possible that there are some enhancements applied to your Headphones and they aren’t working properly. Follow these steps:-
Press the “Windows + R” keys together to open Run.
Type “control” and press enter.
Navigate to the “Hardware and Sound” section and press on the option named “Sound”.
Once you are there Head over to the “Communication” Tab and select the option “Do Nothing”.
Now head over to the “Speakers” tab and double click on the Headphones you are using.
Now go to the Enhancements tab and make sure the “Disable all enhancements” option is checked.
Now head over to the Advanced tab and untick any “Exclusive options” available.
Now restart your computer and you should be good to go. If those fixes don’t fix the problem for you I suggest you install Realtek drivers for your Headsets from this link: Oops!
I’m glad it worked for you! I feel your pain. This one was a bugger to solve. I tried dozens of sites, YouTube videos etc. and nothing worked.
I don’t always have RGB on, so I didn’t think to look there. When I did have it on, I noticed when the volume would jump to 100% my RGB would change color so I decided to start moving away from audio drivers, windows and patches and started looking at my RGB configuration. I found the entire Adobe suite in the apps and the volume raised to 100% for each app. Which I would never do as I have tinnitus and loud noises cause me a lot of pain.
I was so happy to figure this one out. It had been driving me nuts.
A quick plug for Method #5, cuz it’s easy to do. My situation: my volume would go down, whether opening the volume applet or watching a YouTube video. I could mouse-click the volume control and fight it, but it would keep going down until it hit silent/mute. I was about to try out these solutions, but suddenly thought - what if it’s my wireless mouse, because it behaved as if the left mouse button were invisibly pressed. The simplest thing was disconnect the wireless USB transmitter and reconnect it - now it’s all fixed!
Unfortunately, it’s the problem with the game itself and it can’t be fixed through these solutions however if you want an easier way you can just right-click the system tray sound icon and go to “volume mixer” and increase the sound of RDR2 from there. There is a program that can fix this issue as well you can download it through this link:-
I came here to try and find a solution to the issue with Red Dead Redemption 2 turning down the volume and having to manually turn it up every time I play the game. Unfortunately none of these solutions worked for me. Anyone find something that works?
You can try downgrading back to the previous version of Windows to get rid of this issue. I’m afraid if you have tried all other options, this is the only viable one left for now.
Changing the communication settings in the sound works, but after a short amount of time it goes right back to lowering the volume. Although this stupid setting still says “Do Nothing”, you have to change it to 80 or 50% and then rechange it back to Do Nothing almost everytime I use skype or another communication program. Its a Windows bug that no doubt will not be addressed or fixed for years to come.
