People recently started reporting that their computers were not waking up after sleep mode. The light turns on that the computer is turned on but the screen remains black. We have listed a series of steps on how you can troubleshoot what is causing the problem and fix it accordingly. As you already know, this…
The guide itself describes the black screen that refuses to show anything, then proceeds to exclusively offer instructions that depend on seeing things on screen… Great for people who anticipate the problem for some reason, but useless for folks experiencing it
Sometimes I see sites like this and think they’re just trying to get me to download some b.s. tools that are going to install spyware but, in my case, the advice here was solid. I have a 5 year old Lenovo desktop and rolling back the Intel Management Engine did the trick. Thanks to the maintainer of this site and this page.
Nope it was not it, it was the Intel ME driver for sure, I knew that berceuse when I update to 2016.14.0.1555 it becomes worse, I restored the version 2014.14.0.1540 better now, but still not working, it was for sure the Intel ME driver
Nope that doesn’t fix it, it could be the Intel ME driver, it is for sure the Intel ME driver, but what version will fix it that is the question, I found version 2014.14.0.1540 is the best so far, updating to 2016.14.0.1555 made it worse, and that what me me found that it is the ME driver

This worked for me. Had this problem for over a year on the laptop. Tried several methods including method 1,3,4. Didn’t try #2 (downgrade Intel Management Engine Interface Driver). So that might have worked but can’t really say. All I know is the registry fix ( #11) did and was quick and easy.
Thanks!
It should be in the right pane, if there isn’t a value in the right pane, create a new value DWORD 32bit value named CsEnabled and set it according to the instructions.
I don’t see CsEnbled
Thank you for your feedback! It has been added in the post.
The Pre Tips can get you out from Sleepmode and the rest are just further instructions.
There is a solution to the problem with waking up from the sleep mode that is not mentioned here. In Windows 10 there is a sleep mode called “connected standby”, which may cause freezing and therefore make waking up impossible. Disabling “connected standby” is easy. You just need to follow these 3 steps:
- Run Registry Editor (regedit) as administrator.
- Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPower - Change the value for CsEnabled from 1 to 0.
I spent hours searching for the solution and even sent my Asus UX430 to the service. Nothing has helped untill I found out about the solution above.
