You can disable the tablet service from the service.msc console, i would suggest starting computer in clean boot mode, your computer may be running some programs in the back ground which you do not / normally are not using. I have another guide for removing ransome ware, where you need to create a usb disk to boot directly into hitman, i would suggest you try it http://appuals.com/remove-moneypak-ukash-virus/
I can surely say, that you did not follow steps correctly.
Did you boot into safe mode and download malwarebytes?
Did you go to the scan tab → custom scan → and put check in all boxes in the left pane and then clicked scan?
Hi Jenn,
Thank you for posting. This poweliks reset your IE settings which prevents files from being downloaded, however, a reset of the browser fixes that.
Penny - I had this problem. In Internet Explorer, I went to Tools → Internet Options → Security. My security level was “Custom”. I changed it to the default, which was “Medium-High” and the download was allowed to occur.
Kevin Arrows- this fix worked well, THANK YOU! My Malwarebytes scan looked at 2+ million objects and took 10 hours. The ADW Cleaner step found items to clean in two of the tabs (Files and Registry, I believe). There
were a number of Registry items checked. I clicked on Clean and the software finished. When I restarted the computer, it told me I had an unauthorized version of Windows and wanted my 25-character Windows code to re-authorize my version of Windows. But, all seems to be working fine now.
Hi Penny
Did you attempt to download in Safe Mode?
If it is not letting you download, then do the following:
- Bookmark this page so you can access it later.
- Hold windows key and press R
- Type inetcpl.cpl and click OK in the run dialog.
- Go to the advanced tab, and click Reset.
- Put check on Delete Personal Settings
- Click Reset Again.

Followed your instructions and when I got to step 8 to download AdwCleaner, the link did not work. Still having some problems and laptop is slow. Any suggestions
Thank you so much for this information. I went through every step like it said and I got my wife’s computer working like a charm again. Now when you click on something it goes there a 100% faster. You guys ROCK!!!
Did you run ESET?
I misspoke…my resolution didn’t work, My apologies.
George
Did you run ESET Poweliks in Safe Mode?
I cannot express enough thanks!
Nahh, it was a connection issue and internet wasn’t available at the time Origin is a pain in the ass for gamers and wants you to connect to the internet to play anything anymore, even for a game that you have a disc for. Thanks again for the help with the powershell issue! Laptop has been running great all night!
Glad to know that. Try resetting your browser.
I just finished that step and got the ‘threat not found’ message, so I should be good. The error messages are no longer appearing. Now I’m fighting a different battle as a gamer with Origin because I can’t bypass them anymore to play any EA Games and it’s giving me a blank log-in screen, haha! Thanks for the info to stop the powershell issue though
Thank you. Make sure you do the last step (the eset) one.
Is it changing the files in the scan tab to show what it’s scanning?
I wasn’t able to run the ESET Poweliks Cleaner. My computer windows 8 doesn’t support the application
Still running across APPDATA/Local files taking 18 hours now. Is there another way to get the same results but with a faster program?
So I’ve been running to malwarebytes system so far scanning over 1,000,000 items taking over 12 hours. I am running the system on safe mode with networking. I have a windows 8 and just wondering if this is normal?
Omg!!! Thank you soooo much. Geek Squad has tried 3 times remotely to fix it and $200 later I was able to fix it myself thanks to you yayyyyy
